Town Council LED Street Light Conversion Update

On the 11th January 2019, Ellesmere Town Council were approved borrowing approval from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government for a loan from the Public Works Loan Board, to fund the Conversion of their 84 street lights to LED (https://ellesmere-tc.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Business-Case-for-LED-Streetlights.pdf). The borrowing approval was valid for 12 months.

Due to an unexpected change of Town Council administration, the tender process for the project took longer than anticipated.

The lights have been ordered and the project will be delivered in March 2020. Councillors have resolved that they are happy to request an extension to the borrowing approval, so as not to incur unnecessary interest by drawing down the loan earlier than required.
