Come and Join us to celebrate National Tree Charter Day.

Ellesmere Town Council is holding a tree planting ceremony on Saturday 30 November at 9.30 a.m. by the Sshhh Sculpture at the Mere and everyone is invited.

Please join us in planting our ‘Climate Emergency Tree’. Ellesmere Town Council signed up to the National Tree Charter in September this year and we are encouraging people to plant trees to help combat climate change.

The Committee on Climate Change recommends 30,000 hectares of woodland should be planted annually to help reduce carbon in the air, more than double the new trees planted last year. The charity, The Woodland Trust says that this is equivalent to 1.5 billion trees being planted over time. (source bbc.co.uk)

For more information about planting trees for helping to combat climate change, or the tree planting ceremony please contact Mayor Paul Goulbourne on 01691 623868
